Thinking About Your Memorial's Design

Black Saturday Memorial Bell in Kinglake West
Your Memorial Design
Before you can begin creating your memorial, you'll have to brainstorm with your group in your integrated studies notebook. You'll need to come up with ideas about:
- what type of monument you want to create (sculpture, mural, statue, etc.)
- what your piece will look like
- what aspect of the community it will reflect
- why it is being made
- what feelings you want it to evoke
-how it will commemorate Black Saturday
Here is a fantastic website that not only shows you a great example of a bushfire memorial, but discusses a lot of these ideas in-depth. Have a look!
As a group you will have to download and complete the Design Document from the yellow panel. You will be required to write a short Design Problem and Design Brief about your memorial based on the statements drawn from your brainstorming.
Your design problem should state an explanation of the reason why you have to create a memorial. You should be able to complete this based on all the work you have done on your Iquest thus far.
Your design brief should explain what you want to make, how you want to make it, what materials will be needed, and how the design meets the design problem. Keep in mind you will only be required to make a small model of your memorial, not an actual size memorial.
